We pride ourselves on being an equal opportunity employer. We invite and embrace differences by providing and supporting an inclusive culture. In 2020, we joined Diversity Works, to obtain an independent perspective on how we’re doing compared to peer organisations. We’ve baselined where we’re at, so we can measure our improvements and the impact of initiatives we’re rolling out. Some initiatives we’ll be focussing on include:
- Improving our understanding of the ethnic and cultural base of our people and the communities they live in.
- Facilitating minority and ethnic support groups.
- Investing in unconscious bias training for our managers to further reduce remaining stereotypes or barriers that could limit full participation in our company.
- Actively employing apprentices and encouraging apprenticeships for mature workers to upskill and enhance their employment options.
As an equal opportunity employer, we have people of all ages working for us. We engage with many of our workers as they approach the end of their working lives to help them with pre-retirement planning. We acknowledge leaving the workforce can be a stressful time, and we help to make the transition as smooth as possible.
